Privacy Policy
Effective October 24, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Ryan Harth Foundation (“the Foundation,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information through this website. The Foundation is a Michigan nonprofit corporation and a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Board members, officers, volunteers, and staff act for the Foundation when they review information submitted here. This policy does not create a personal duty between you and any individual director, officer, or volunteer.
By using this website, or by submitting a form, donation, newsletter signup, event registration, or other request, you acknowledge this policy. If you submit information about a child or another person, you represent that you have the authority to do so.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
- Contact details, such as your name, email address, phone number, and organization.
- Support-application and referral details, including your relationship to a child, a child’s first name and age, an approximate date of a parent’s death, the type of support requested, and any description you choose to provide.
- Donation details, such as your name, email, gift amount, and billing information needed to process the gift. Card numbers are handled by our payment processor, Stripe, and are not stored on this website.
- Newsletter and event details you submit, including an email address and any consent you give to receive messages.
- Messages you send through the contact form, along with the technical address of the device used to send the message.
- Usage information collected by Google Analytics, such as pages visited, general location, device type, and similar technical data.
Please share only what you are comfortable sharing. Do not send Social Security numbers, full financial-account numbers, medical records, or other highly sensitive records through these forms.
We ask only for the information needed to review a request, process a donation or registration, or respond to you. Access to support-application details (including any information about a child) is limited to people who need it for Foundation work.
How we use information
We use information to review requests, respond to you, process donations and event registrations, send newsletters you asked for, operate and secure the website, and keep records the Foundation needs for its charitable, financial, and legal obligations. We do not sell personal information.
Who can see it
Access is limited to people who need the information for Foundation work. That may include:
- Board members, officers, staff, and volunteers who review a request or administer the Foundation.
- The email addresses configured to receive form notifications.
- A program partner, such as a camp or service provider, only when sharing is needed to evaluate or provide the support you requested. By submitting a support application or referral, you consent to the Foundation sharing the information reasonably necessary for that purpose. Those organizations are independent of the Foundation and are responsible for their own handling of information after they receive it.
- Service providers that host the website, deliver email, process payments, or provide analytics, and only for those services.
- A government agency, auditor, insurer, attorney, or other party when disclosure is required by law, needed to protect the Foundation’s rights, or needed to prevent harm.
We do not promise that information will be seen only by one person, or that it will remain confidential in every circumstance. Submission of a form is not a confidential communication with an attorney, counselor, or other professional.
Donor information and sharing
We do not rent, sell, or trade donor lists or personal information for solicitation or other purposes outside the Foundation. If you do not want your name or contact information shared outside the Foundation, contact us at the email or mailing address below and we will honor that request, subject to any records we must keep for tax, accounting, or legal reasons.
Where information is stored
Form submissions are kept as private records in the website administration area. They are not published on public pages. Copies are also sent by email to the Foundation’s notification addresses. Records may reside with our website host, email provider, Stripe, and Google. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to a small nonprofit website. No website, email system, or storage service is perfectly secure. To the fullest extent permitted by Michigan law, the Foundation and its directors, officers, volunteers, staff, and agents are not liable for unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure of information that occurs despite those safeguards, or for the acts or omissions of an independent program partner or service provider. If a security incident occurs that involves personal information of Michigan residents (or residents of other states with notification laws), the Foundation will provide any notices required by applicable law.
Children
Support requests may include limited information about a child. We intend for a parent, guardian, or a professional or adult referrer to submit that information. We do not knowingly collect information directly from a child under 13. If you believe a child submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it from the website records we control.
How long we keep information
We keep information while a request, donation, registration, or message is open and for as long as the Foundation needs it for its charitable records, tax filings, audits, insurance, or legal obligations. We then delete or de-identify it from the website records we control when it is no longer needed. Email copies may remain in a recipient’s mailbox until that person deletes them. We do not promise deletion from systems we do not control.
Support decisions
Submitting an application, referral, or other request does not guarantee support, a response, or any particular outcome. Awards are made at the sole discretion of the Foundation, based on available funds, eligibility, and the Foundation’s criteria. Where possible, support is paid to a program or service provider rather than as cash to a family. Nothing on this website is a promise to pay, a partnership, or an endorsement of another organization.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies needed to operate forms, donations, and the website, and Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser. Blocking cookies may limit some features. Google’s own policy describes how Analytics data is handled.
Your choices
You may ask us what website records we hold about you, ask us to correct them, or ask us to delete them, subject to records we must keep. You may unsubscribe from newsletter messages by using the link in those emails. Donation receipts and records required for tax or accounting purposes may be retained even if you ask us to delete other information.
Board and volunteer roles
Directors, officers, and volunteers serve the Foundation. A review of your information is an act of the Foundation, not a personal service by the individual reviewer. Except where Michigan or federal law does not allow a limit, volunteer directors are not personally liable for an act or omission in that role. This policy does not waive liability for conduct the law does not allow a nonprofit to limit, including willful misconduct or an improper personal benefit.
Other websites
Links to other organizations, including Experience Camps and payment or social-media services, leave this website. We are not responsible for the privacy or security practices of those sites.
Changes
We may update this policy by posting a new version on this page. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use of the website after an update means you accept the revised policy. We are not required to notify you individually.
Michigan law
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes arising out of this policy or your use of the website will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Michigan. If a provision of this policy cannot be enforced, the rest remains in effect. A delay in enforcing a provision is not a waiver.
